i have a version 5/6 ps2 with the no solder modchip along with swapmagic 3.0. I heard that some ps2's dont read DVD+R disks but these are the only disks my burner can write. When i try to boot games with swap magic there is just a red border around the screen...Now i've heard this could be due to me using cheap TDK disks so i went out and bought some Verbatim DVD+R's...same result. Now i'm tempted to go out and buy an external burner that'll be able to to write onto DVD-R's cuz i'm thinking thats the problem. Anybody have any insight?..thanks in advance

why dont u get the lend of a backup or get some1 to burn you one onto a dvd-r and if it works then you know ur ps2 cant read +r. i have two playstation 2's which are different versions and they both play dvd+r but i still think dvd-r is alot better.

IMHO it will be better in the long run for you to sell your current burner (ebay) and pick up a dual format burner (writes to - and +) as they are reasonably priced now and DVD-R media is generally a little bit cheaper. BTW did you check out swapmagicfix.com to make sure you don't need any patches, ect. for the games that you have tried?
