I need a program that will make .vob files into mpeg files. I've already tried out the newest version of TMPGenc author and it's given me 3 coasters already. Please recomend a good alternative.

Regular TMPGEnc should be able to do it. Just go into MPEG tools, select multiplex and then add the VOB.

Why turn a VOB into an mpg though?

Got a movie from a trader that won't run on standalone players but works on pc, so my thought is to re-author to see if it will play.

Might want to try demultiplexing instead then.

 What region is it if it doesn't work on the standalone player ?
Try re-ripping or reauthorising it with DVD decrypter or DVDshrink thats what i do it always works, then you can use the original as a coaster or go for a world record throw.
