last year i put a password in the bios to stop my son and others from having access to the bios,
and i forgot to write it down now i can't remember it.
so is their a way to bypass it

the way i did it before was to open up the pc and take the battery out for about 10 minutes then put it back in

reset the password for me and i think that is the generally accepted easiest way to do it...

i have never had a problem with changing the cmos jumper, all you do need to remember to do is earth yourself for a minute before you do it to get rid of staic that can damage your board

The clear CMOS jumper is there for a reason. It's no more dangerous then anything else you could possibly do inside or outside a computer.

Touch the case chasis for a second or two and you are good. No need for bracelts as its a waste of $$.

Yeah, anti static bracelets are a complete waste of time, have had my hands in hundred of machines without using one, never a problem. Just discharge yourself sensibly on anything earthed, METAL PART at back of base unit (needs to be plugged in obviously), radiator, whatever.

@Philly - wise a$$ :p

For a minute? Whats this, you contain a special brand of slow release electric potential? A quick touch is all you need, laws of physics m8.

Well, I head that if you stick your tongue in the power socket, it works. Try it out and let us know :)

What other parts of your body are small enough to go into a plug socket then m8?

Sounds like your name of "Phil" is a bit misleading ;)
