Hi all,

I have been using Dr divx to encode some mpgs that I have recorded from my ATI TV card(8500 DV).

I was just wondering what the overall implcations would be to disable the second pass option when encoding?:insane:

Does the second pass allocate the correct bitrate? will there be an overall loss of picture quality?

Thanks for your help.:bouncing:

Moving this to the MPEG4 forum. (DivX = MPEG4).

Second pass gives better quality per size and more accurate size prediction.

I thought DivX needed more than two passes?? Nth pass and all of that.

I would suggest that you try a 1 pass encode and compare.

Hi,

Yep - I did a one pass test - the file size was about the same but I think the picture has more pixelation. I just wanted to check to make sure it was not my imagination.

Thanks.:t_up:
