When I turn on my computer, it clicks every now and then. Every 10 seconds or so. Then does some sort of power-up noise, like what you hear when your computer is first turned on.

Not sure what it is, any help?

Open the side, stick your head in and see if you can locate where the sound is coming from.

Handy hint, I'd bet my house that its your hard drive and its on the brink of death. Suggest you back everything up immediately.

Unless you are really lucky and one of your fans is dying (PSU or CPU), maybe full of fluff - but I've never known one to do that.

On a healthy system with a good PSU, clicking noise is not a good sign because it may tell you your HDD is bad. You need to back up all important data and replace it ASAP. However, on a system with insufficient PSU and there are many devices installed or when the power connector you use for the HDD is defective or was not plugged in properly, you'll also hear the HDD clicking. My advice is to turn off the system and try another power connector for the HDD. Make sure the connector is connected firmly to the HDD. If you still hear the clicking noise, try a more powerful PSU or unplug some of the hardware such as CD/DVD drives to see if you still hear the clicking. If you still do then it's time to replace the HDD. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/fsc/sad.gif

BTW, what's the output wattage of your PSU?

Just as important, the brand too.

I think it is my HDD, too.

Reason why is this:

Before, my HDD's were raided. Somehow, they broke? So I had to play off my backup for a while... However, it never read the raid, ever. So I was quite confused. Until recently, they are reading the HDD, however, the raid is not working - so quite confused at that. The backup HDD never seems to fail me or have problems. So question is, are these 2 HDD's that were raided causing problems for me while on my backup? Should I unplug them and see how it goes?

Thank you in advance.

Oh, also, one other problem!

I play World of Warcraft and sometimes (rarely) NWN. It would seem things would run fine with my sound off, but sometimes when I have my sound on in game, I will get a loud crackling noise all of a sudden. A burst of loud noise, then my computer would shut off and restart itself. People tell me this is a problem with Audigy 2, Soundblasters, etc.. Is this true? And if not or so, how can this be fixed?

Thanks again, seems like my CPU is falling apart. =(
