Are all SCSI drives the same??

We're just in the process of planning a server hdd upgrade. nothing too technical however Dell are telling us we've got to buy the SCSI drive from them as others will not be compatible.

Surely as long as the new drive has the right number of pins, spins at the right speed any SCSI drive will work?
