OK guy's what we would like to get away from with this forum is the "This brand is best and that brand sucks" type of posting and be as objective as we possibly can on the subject of blank DVDR/W's.
There are only a small handful of DVDR manufacturers in the world who actually make the discs and companies such as.... Datawrite, Bulkpaq, Memorex, Verbatim, Arita, FWS, ICE, Traxdata etc, etc.... do NOT make any discs whatsoever, they are simply brand names and nothing more. ;)
So if we could all try and sing from the same sheet as it were this is the way we would like you to post in here if you have any queries/problems with media that you are using.
First off please tell us the brand name on the disc and any other info you think would help such as the colour (if applicable) and speed rating of the disc. Then identify the exact media type by scanning the disc and copy & pasting that info into your post.
How do I scan and Identify my DVDR media?
Well there are several software utilities that will do this and if you are say using Nero Info Tool and are happy with that then fine, it's the info that is retrieved from the disc that we are concerned with and not the software used. I would highly recommend using DVD Identifier for the job though myself. Why? Because not only is it a simple & foolproof tool to use it is also FREE and only a small download.
Download DVD Identifier (http://dvdplusid.cdfreaks.com/)
How do I use DVD Identifier?
Once downloaded simply extract the .zip file and copy & paste the prog anywhere you like on your HD, the Desktop is a good choice.
Now here's the easy bit. All you do is this:- Start DVD Identifier > Insert a blank DVDR/W into your DVDRW burner > Click on Identify. You will then see something like this (A Traxdata 4X DVD-R inserted into a Pioneer A05 in this instance)......

Then simply copy to your clipboard by clicking on the clipboard button and paste the info into your post as below:-
Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:RITEKG04]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Disc Type : [DVD-R]
Manufacturer ID : [RITEKG04]
Disc Application Code : [Unrestricted Use : Consumer Purpose]
Recording Speeds : [1x - 2x - 4x]
Blank Disc Capacity : [2.298.496 Sectors - 4.489MB - 4,38GB]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
[DVD Identifier - http://DVD.Identifier.CDfreaks.com]

There we are, simple! :)
Now we can quite clearly and see that this particular disc is not made by Traxdata but is in fact a Ritek G04 - 4X DVD-R. (Traxdata brand name is however owned by the Ritek corp and these discs come direct from the Ritek factory.)
So if you could all post in a similar way then members will be easily able to provide you with the best help possible and answer any queries nice and quicky for you. :)
