Urgent Help Installing AV Software

Hi guys

My son appears to have a virus on his machine whihc stops him from loading a new AV program. How can he clean his machine to allow the new software to be installed?

You'll need to give more details. How does the virus stop you from installing new AV apps? Any error messages?

Van...Sorry for the limited post. However my son sent me an txt advising of the problem and that's all the info I have available. He won't be contactable until he returns form work this evening. I thought there may be a way around it EG booting into safe mode to load the software or a tool that is downloadable to detect the virus[s] and remove it prior to loading the software.

hopefully he will then be able to install the antivirus mate
