xvid file prob

hi guys once again im having trouble with a downloaded file type that my comp dont recognize. ok so i downloaded a move and its in several parts it not a rar or zip and wont play in win media the titlr of it is alli-21grams-xvid-disc1.001 when i go in to properties to look at the file type all i get is 001 filecan u help

So WinRAR didn't work? Odd. If they aren't winrar files then they could just be the file split up, in which case copy /b should work. However I would suggest that you try winrar again... grab the latest version first.

.00x will open up in the latest winrar (3.3 i think)

make sure you have all the files... then unrar with winrar or 7zip or any of the many programs that can unarchive rar files ...

thanks guys that worked ok but for some reason they wasnt showing as rar files odd.

winrar only registers *.rar and *.r01-*.r30ish to open under winrar anything aobve that you will manual have to select the program. and as the numbering system was *.000 its not in winrars numbering system.
Normally there will be a *.rar file which will know what the other parts are called and do the rest of the job.

I often wondered why only the first 30 or so files were recognised as rar files and the rest weren't. It's true - you do learn something new everyday.
