Skipping Question?

I have an old LG 2310p Standalone, when I play some DVD rips burnt on
shintaro x4 -R discs, there sometimes is some skipping, even jumping chapters.

The thing is when I play it on the DVD-ROM it play perfect.

so my question is..is it the DVD player or the media or both?

I would have to go with both. I mean the media may work fine in another player. Doesn't mean that it isn't crappy media though.

Grab some Ritek's. Haven't bought any in a few weeks, but I would imagine that they are down to $1.30/1.20.

I would say it is the media. it isn't unheard of for people to have problem with cheaper media burned at 4x (even though it is rated for 4x). Try burning it at 1x or 2x and see what happens. As suggested by Celtic grab some Riteks they should work at 4x without a hitch.
