Been looking for something like this (http://www.cheaplpc.com/XIR/) :D

Taken from xbox scene website:

What's the XIR Easy Kit?
The XIR Easy Kit will allow you to turn on and off your xbox with a remote control. The 'Easy Kit' I tested is fully solderless (unless you want to add optional 'd0'/modchip control), the 'Pro Kit' requires some easy soldering and is also a bit cheaper.
No doubt many of you hardware modders have made your own but for the solderingly-challenged people out there finally we can do this too!- requires opening up your xbox though

Easier to push the button on the front.

Thanks handyguy, useful as always.

I think that is more of a 'toy' feature and just something to say you have. This is what modding is all about (even the little things). :) There are other ways of accomplishing this at 'the scene' site but kind of more hacky imho. Got a trick knee now (getting old ffs), and my Xbox is in my entertainment center which is almost floor level so a remote of sorts would be nice whenever I can get around to trying that.

Thanks nimble m8.

no probs- the old dear will only allow an xbox in the living room only if no controllers are in sight!- gonne a put a second one there purely as a media player/ plus maybe linksbox to do a bit of web surfing :D

so need the remote and i dunno if there is an ingame reset mapped to the dvd remote (returning from M$ dash (dvd player)- to xbmc (plays the rest of the media))- this is the only way i can think of getting round it- unless you guys know of an IGR for the remote- for the x2 4981 bioses?

plus it'd be nice to be able to switch off/switch on the xbox everytime i get a lock up
