Win XP 'it is now safe to shutdown your computer ' screen

I have upgraded an old 350mhz pc from windows 98 to wimdows xp pro.

When I shutdown I get a black scrren with the windows xp logo with the message 'it is now safe to shutdown you computer' and I then have to turn it off manually.

Is this becase it doue not support automatic shutdown in windows xp of do I have to change a setting?

cheers, I was also experiencing similar problems on my mums p2 350. Worked a treat.
