dvd recorder help

A friend of mine has a dvd redorder, and has just asked me this question to which im not sure of the answer.
After he has recorded his programs onto a dvdr disc in his recorder, is it possible to run it through his pc and remove all of the adverts out using some editing software, then re burn the the programs back onto another disc,.
Any help on this would be great, also wot format does it record the programs onto the dvdr.

Yep it should be easy to do.

Make sure he finalises the disk on the standalone recorder, then just run it through a good authoring program ... loads about.

Edit :
Once finalised ... it will be in normal DVD Video format .... i.e. VIDEO_TS folder containing isos,bups & vobs
