newbie dvd recorder help wtd

as title got a dvd recorder for my birthday, but im not sure if its any good lol



it does all the basic features (i think!) but i want to know what these to do/mean;

simultaneous record and playback does this mean i can record one channel and watch another or does it simply mean you can watch what you can record?
disc navigation with index picture screen does this mean when i stop the recording (is that even possible lol) it create like a chapter?



Also with it being +r format does this mean i can pause/stop the dvd and record on it at a later date?



i would check the manual but there is none in the box, i also would try it out and see but they never bought me any disc's and wont take me to 24 hours tescos :(



Any help would be great as if its crap I would rather take it back and get a better one for a similar price.

on the plus side they bought me some sweets i use like a kid and there beautiful lol

avious DRW-1029 , it cost £120 i dont relly mind paying upto £150 for a better model (no point paying more, wont be used that much), but there all seem to do the same.

Or even what should i look for on a basic dvd player and ill ahve a look around the net/shops
