Some of you have undoubtedly read this already but I figured I would pass it along for those who don't know (from ps2ownz):
Thats right, DNAS has been officially cracked, and using the DISKID3 program from NoID, you can patch your back-ups and play on-line. I (CJ) have PERSONALLY confirmed this using SWAP TECHNIQUES on a v9 PS2 using SOCOM II!
Remember, if the game has more than (1) DNASXXX.IMG file you will need to patch/replace them ALL for it to work without any errors.

Thanks m8

Yes, it is true!!!!!!!!!!!! I have done this with Madden2K4, Live 2K4, NFL Street, and Socom 2! I will do more of my backups later, as it took all day to re-burn all these DVDR's today. BTW, the best method for doing this is to make an Iso image, then open it with the LATEST CDMAge, extract the dnasxxx.img file, patch the img file, put it back into the image with CDMage, then burn away. This way you do not have to rebuild the image.
On a side note,, it may be only a matter of time before Sony notices that we are all using the same disc ID. So let's all enjoy while we can!

It will work with a modchip. They are referring to the swap magic discs. Simply saying that it will work with them as well.
will sony actually know who has the genuine DNAS ID

I have heard on other boards that it will work with a messiah 2 but not all chips will work. Since DNAS detects chips and disks. IF I am not mistaken the messiah turns off after a certain time and it works however I am not for sure if it works for every game all the time this was a problem with the DMS3 chip
I find it really interesting though on that other board that they tell everyone it will work perfectly just pay for one of our flip tops and you'll be happy
Oh well different strokes for different folks

I think with the DMS3 chip it depends on which Bios you have.

Yes, it will work with certain chips. It has to be one that you can turn off manually, or one that auto-shuts off. The ones that remain on during gameplay will not work, as they will be detected by the DNAS. That will recieve an 802DNAS error code I believe. The reason they are saying to buy the flip-top is that people 'could' remove their chip, if it is an older one, and install a flip-top to get online. I don't think that would be the right thing to do in that situation, though.........just upgrade chips. Of course, you could also use both...... not sure exactly how that would work, though. Anyhow, I am using a flip-top (only) on one of my PS2's and it works just fine for online play. And as for being able to boot all games (a different discussion all together), with the aid of CD Loader, nothing is unplayable.

"Software you'll need:
discidutil.zip <--- Disk ID Utility used to retrieve the DiskID from your original game.
diskid_changer_0.3.zip <--- DiskID Changer used to patch DNAS###.IMG files
diskid_changer_nips.zip <--- Additional NIP files for DiskID Changer 0.3
CDmage - been using version 1.02.1b5, but others work too.
RecordNow Max, or another program to rip/burn your originals.
------------------
Steps:
1. Insert Original PS2 game into DVD-ROM drive on your PC. run the discidutil program to find the disc id sequence for your original. It will be in the format ##:##:##:##:##. Write this down or put it in a txt file.
2. Rip your original game to your PC harddrive. You want to get a standard ISO file.
(If using RecordNow Max, build a global image and go to step 2a)
2a. If you end up with a global image when using RecordNow max, jump into DOS, navigate into the directory your ripped your game to, and run this simple copy command:
copy /b "file (11).gi"+"file (12).gi"+"file (13).gi"+"file.gi" output.iso
This should give you a standard ISO. Continue to step 3.
3. run CDMage, and open your ISO file. Search the file for any and all DNAS###.IMG files. When found, right click on them, and select EXTRACT. Extract those files to the same directory your ISO is in. Once all of them are extracted, continue to step 4.
4. copy the DISKID3.exe file from diskid_changer_0.3.zip file to your ISO directory. it is ran in dos with this example command:
DISKID [-u] patch.nip filename diskid <---- general example
DISKID -u DNAS271.NIP DNAS271.IMG 12:34:56:78:90 <---- more specific example
remember to replace the DNAS###.nip/img files with the ones your patching, and the diskid with the diskid you got in step 1.
Repeat this step for every DNAS###.IMG files you extracted from your ISO. When finished, step 5.
5. Open your ISO file back up in CDMage. Find the DNAS###.IMG files in your ISO, right click on them individually and click IMPORT. Find the patched DNAS###.IMG file you just used back in step 4, and click OK. It should tell you if it was successful.
Repeat this for all DNAS###.IMG files in your ISO. When finished, step 6.
6. Burn your ISO using RecordNow Max, or whatever software you use."
So hold on a sec???
Let me ask you this...
Lets say I have:
Smartchip-equipped v9 NTSC PS2/w Network Adapter
+
PC equipped with broadband internet connection, Pioneer A06 and Nero 5.5 software
+
This new anti-DNAS utility
Backups of online PS2 games like SSX3, N4S:Underground and LOTR:Return of the King...
Does this mean I can retrofit this patch to these already burned games?
I would think not, since they are all DVDRs....can you do this with DVDRWs?
How much longer does this process add to the time it takes to make backup copies?
Can Nero be used?

Were can I get the software to do this
aciras

Klee: You will have to reburn the games if they are on DVD-r or DVD+r.
Once you have the patched image (using the directions above) just burn it back using any DVD burning software (depends on what file format your image is).
