Hey everyone! I have a Netgear wireless set up in my house. The only problem is that I like to build AMD PCs and the PCI wireless cards from Netgear don't work with AMD. Found out the hard way. :( Are the USB 2.0 wireless adaptors just as good as the PCI cards? I can't see how the USB could pick up the signal as well as the PCI with the antenna. Or are they both pretty much the same? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've been using the Netgear router and Netgear USB adaptor for quite a while and nothing happens unhappily, yet. More than that, it works quite well even at a long distance. I have the router stationed at my house and my friend's USB adaptor is more than 25ft. away and it still works great. I hope this can help you a bit.

Some USB adaptors have antennas too .... I have had good results with a Linksys unit :

works well all over the house and down the end of the garden. It is useful being portable and easy to swap from PC to PC/Laptop.

Having said that, a PCI card is always the better bet IMO, especially if portability isn't a requirement.
